Finding Sustainable Employment
With unemployment being a root cause of homelessness, the Care Service advocates to improve the job seeker’s skill set and ability to find and secure sustainable employment, allowing for more stable home environments and decreasing dependency on public assistance.
Workforce Development provides job search and application tools to low-income residents of St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. Certified Workforce Development recipients are walked through an individualized, assessment-based service plan requiring full participation of the job-seeker. Staff provides coaching and tips for improving interview skills and job retention and connects clients with community professionals. Workforce Development offers hands-on job coaching and employment search counseling to assist job seekers in reaching self-reliance.

Workforce Development's career counseling and services include:
- Assessment of client needs and job skills
- One-on-one career counseling and exploration
- Resume and cover letter assistance
- Training in job search techniques and online applications
- Coaching for interviews and interview skills training
- Referrals, such as for training/re-training and clothing for interviews
- Job leads and job fair notifications
Many Workforce Development participants qualify for other programs offered by the Care Service, such as Food Pantry and Housing, depending on income.
