Housing
Assistance

There is a severe shortage of affordable housing in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren Counties, with just seven affordable units available for every 100 renters in need. Facing a housing crisis is overwhelming. The Care Service helps ease the stress of individuals and families facing utility disconnection, eviction, loss of housing, or who are currently experiencing homelessness.

Our Housing Assistance Program provides immediate relief by assisting with utility, rent, or mortgage payments to help people stay in their homes. Rental deposits help secure new housing for those lacking a safe, secure place to call home. Most importantly, a Care Service staff member will work alongside the household members to provide the assistance, support, and resources they need to reach a place of stability and self-sufficiency.

For nearly 20 years, The Care Service has been operating affordable and transitional housing units, applying best practices that lead to successful placements, ongoing support, and long-term stability. We are committed to bringing more affordable and transitional housing to our community through our Making Room Housing Campaign. These homes provide much-needed relief to struggling families and individuals, easing the burden of housing instability and transforming not just their lives, but our entire community.

2024 Program Outcomes

We get to sit down and eat supper together again, which we weren’t able to do before for a very long time. So the first night here at our new place, we all sat together at the table and ate together, which was just awesome to be able to do that and eat as a family.

I couldn’t imagine where we still would have been if I didn’t find you guys. And I’m glad that I’m not there, and I’m glad that I’m not working three jobs anymore. I’m glad I’m not stressed out. I’m glad I get to come home every day to a house that has an oven.
