During the summer months, demand for food increases in our food pantries. Families with children who typically rely on school-provided breakfast and lunch turn to us to meet their increased food needs at home. At the same time, summer heat forces many elderly individuals to choose between paying for utilities to stay cool or buying food. Unfortunately, food donations are typically lower during the summer. The Care Service’s annual Pack the Pool food collection ensures our pantry shelves are stocked and ready to provide families with enough food to last throughout the summer.
Our community-wide food collection will take place in St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren counties in June 2026. Proceeds and food donations provide assistance, support, and resources to individuals and families in our community facing a housing crisis or food insecurity.
