We get to sit down and eat supper together again, which we weren’t able to do before for a very long time. So the first night here at our new place, we all sat together at the table and ate together, which was just awesome to be able to do that and eat as a family.

I couldn’t imagine where we still would have been if I didn’t find you guys. And I’m glad that I’m not there, and I’m glad that I’m not working three jobs anymore. I’m glad I’m not stressed out. I’m glad I get to come home every day to a house that has an oven.

I had gone through a domestic violence situation, so I was living in my dad’s unfinished basement with my three children. That’s when I met The Care Service.

My case worker helped me set healthy, achievable short and long term goals. She understood the system and helped me get groceries until I was approved for food stamps. She helped me get vouchers, resources, and furniture for my children. It was great knowing someone I could trust.

Since then, things have been amazingly better! I got a job, moved into a rental house, and now my kids are excited about the school year....

I can have food on the table every day for my daughter, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I don’t have to worry anymore about how I’m going to feed my child. It’s not just about food, it’s not just about housing, it’s making you believe in yourself again.

There’s usually fresh fruit, bread, cereals, or nuts. These are some things that I would bypass at the grocery store because it would be an extra thing that I wouldn’t have to have.

They (Street Outreach) are trying to help us get into a place, and they helped us get our ID and social security. I’m very grateful, they’re kind, they actually care.
