Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service located in St. Charles, Missouri, began 27 years ago with six volunteers and $500 in hand. The Care Service has since grown to become one of the largest and most diversified grass root organizations in Missouri. The Care Service is a 97% volunteer organization. As a fiscally responsible agency, less than 10 cents of every dollar is used for administration. The continuance of our core programs, Children and Youth Support, Housing Assistance, Food, Health & Wellness, Transportation, Employment and Adopt-A-Family, is crucial to maintaining the amount and quality of resources currently available to those in need in our area. More than 65% of our budget reflects our mission to serve those in crisis and to prevent homelessness and hunger. The remaining programs are designed to stabilize and strengthen the family by reintegrating them into our community. In 2007, we served more than 1,930 households, totaling more than 5,100 individuals. However, the Care Service infrastructure is not sufficient to maintain a hold on service deliveries with these high demands. Our lack of a suitable space, cost families current services as well as limits access to future services. Our solution is to purchase the 25,000 sq. ft. building adjacent to our present building. The core of the building will be used to house our core programs. In this space we will be collaborating with the partnering agencies pictured above. Now our families will have a one-stop-shop experience for their social service needs, the first of its kind in Missouri, a model for other communities to follow. This project will cost roughly $4,000,000, with $2,700,000 needed in cash. Your support will allow Sts. Joachim & Ann Care Service to continue to be the place where “miracles happen every day”.
