Disaster Response Sts. Joachim & Ann Care Service has been a light in the storm for many families in St. Charles County during times of great crisis. Because of the 25 years of service to our community, the Care Service was able to step into the role of FEMA-appointed lead agency in this area even before Hurricanes Katrina and Rita made landfall. These devastating storms brought many families to this region of the country. In some cases, the first available hotel room was in our area. As many people found throughout the country, the disaster affected us all. The Care Service knows that crisis affects more than those directly involved. We are all responsible for handling crises of this magnitude. | Fire Relief Fires in homes happens quickly and without warning. Immediate relief is necessary. The Care Service has been available to step in and provide whatever was necessary to help these families deal with the trauma of losing their home and belongings. From emergency shelter to clothing to children's toys, the Care Service is a necessary beacon in the Counties of St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren. | Flood Relief The floods that hit the St. Charles area in 1993 provided the Care Service with unique experience in dealing with this type of crisis. As the lead agency in providing advocacy and the necessities of existence to many families during these floods, the Care Service was able to go on to assist in the national disasters that hit in 2002. The Care Service coordinated a Long Term Recovery Committee, in conjunction with Crider Mental Health, and many local agencies. |
